About the Copyright Advisory Office
Rights Management, Awareness and Education
Columbia University Libraries established the Copyright Advisory Office in 2008 s a means of addressing burgeoning issues surrounding the use of scholarly materials by faculty and students in the course of research, teaching and communicating scholarship. Since its inception, Columbia University's Copyright Advisory Office has acted as an anchor by providing awareness and education about copyright to the greater scholarly community.
Rina Elster Pantalony was appointed in the fall of 2014 as the Director of the Copyright Advisory Office, bringing significant experience in rights management to this Office. The mandate of the Copyright Advisory Office is to assist faculty and students in idenfying and managing their copyrights and to assist the University in managing and understanding copyright issues strategically.
